چکیده

This paper addresses the performance comparison of simultaneous perturbation stochastic approximation (SPSA) based methods for PID tuning of MIMO systems. Four typical SPSA based methods, which are one-measurement SPSA (1SPSA), two-measurement SPSA (2SPSA), Global SPSA (GSPSA) and Adaptive SPSA (ASPSA) are examined. Their performances are evaluated by extensive simulation for several controller design examples, in terms of the stability of the closed-loop system, tracking performance and computation time. In addition, the performance of the SPSA based methods are compared to the other stochastic optimization based approaches. It turns out that the GSPSA based algorithm is the most practical in terms of the stability and the tracking performance. 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

A Model-Free Approach for Maximizing Power Production of Wind Farm Using Multi-Resolution Simultaneous Perturbation Stochastic Approximation

This paper provides a model-free approach based on the Multi-Resolution Simultaneous Perturbation Stochastic Approximation (MR-SPSA) for maximizing power production of wind farms. The main advantage is that the method based on MR-SPSA can achieve fast controller tuning without any plant model by exploiting the information of the wind farm configuration such as turbines location and wind directi...

Decentralized Fuzzy-PID Based Control Model for a Multivariable Liquid Level System

Multivariable liquid level control is essential in process industries to ensure quality of the product and safety of the equipment. However, the significant problems of the control system include excessive time consumption and percentage overshoot, which result from ineffective performance of the tuning methods of the PID controllers used for the system. In this paper, fuzzy logic was used to t...

Offline Auto-Tuning of a PID Controller Using Extended Classifier System (XCS) Algorithm

Proportional + Integral + Derivative (PID) controllers are widely used in engineering applications such that more than half of the industrial controllers are PID controllers. There are many methods for tuning the PID parameters in the literature. In this paper an intelligent technique based on eXtended Classifier System (XCS) is presented to tune the PID controller parameters. The PID controlle...

A Unified IMC based PI/PID Controller Tuning Approach for Time Delay Processes

This paper proposes a new PI/PID controller tuning method within filtered Smith predictor (FSP) configuration in order to deal with various types of time delay processes including stable, unstable and integrating delay dominant and slow dynamic processes. The proposed PI/PID controller is designed based on the IMC principle and is tuned using a new constraint and without requiring any approxima...

Verification of an Evolutionary-based Wavelet Neural Network Model for Nonlinear Function Approximation

Nonlinear function approximation is one of the most important tasks in system analysis and identification. Several models have been presented to achieve an accurate approximation on nonlinear mathematics functions. However, the majority of the models are specific to certain problems and systems. In this paper, an evolutionary-based wavelet neural network model is proposed for structure definiti...
